About the Role

We are seeking a Category Research & Listings Coordinator to help us organize, research, and manage the businesses listed in specific categories on our platform. Your role will be essential in ensuring that businesses are accurately categorized, researching market trends, and ensuring the information is up-to-date.
A a Category Research & Listings Coordinator, you will focus on researching businesses within specific categories (such as beauty, fashion, health, or tech) and ensuring the listings are accurate, complete, and well-organized. You’ll collaborate with the team to improve user experience by ensuring businesses are easy to find and discover within their respective categories.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research & Data Collection: Identify and verify Black-owned businesses within specific categories and industries through online research, industry reports, and networking.

  • Category Management: Ensure businesses are properly categorized and their listings reflect their products or services accurately.

  • Market Trend Analysis: Conduct research to stay informed on industry trends, new businesses, and emerging market opportunities within assigned categories.

  • Content Updates: Maintain and update business profiles, service descriptions, and contact information within The Nile’s database.

  • Collaborate with Business Owners: Assist businesses in optimizing their profiles and ensuring they are accurately represented within their category.

  • Data Organization & Reporting: Organize research findings and provide insights on industry trends and growth areas for specific categories.

  • Improvement Recommendations: Suggest improvements to category structures, user experience, and the search functionality on the platform based on your research.

Requirements:

  • Strong research skills, with the ability to identify and verify businesses within specific industries.

  • Excellent organizational skills to manage and update business listings.

  • Knowledge of various business sectors and trends in specific categories (e.g., beauty, fashion, health, tech).

  • Ability to analyze market trends and provide actionable insights.

  • Experience using Google Sheets, Excel, or databases to organize and track research data.

  • Excellent communication skills to interact with business owners and team members.

  • Passion for supporting Black-owned businesses and promoting economic empowerment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in business research, data analysis, or market research.

  • Familiarity with CRM systems or content management platforms like Wix, WordPress, etc.

  • Experience working with small business owners or knowledge of the Black entrepreneurship ecosystem.

  • Familiarity with SEO and its impact on business visibility.
