About the Role
We are looking for bilingual or multilingual researchers who are passionate about global economic equity, Black entrepreneurship, and international development. This role involves researching and identifying Black-owned businesses in priority regions, gathering accurate business details, and contributing to the expansion of The Nile’s directory. Ideal candidates have a background in Global Poverty, International Development, African Diaspora Studies, the Wealth Gap (especially the Racial Wealth Gap), or related fields.
Priority Regions:
Our initial focus is on countries with significant Black populations where Black-owned businesses are often harder to locate. We are prioritizing researchers in the following regions:
Brazil (Must be bilingual in English & Portuguese)
South Africa 🇿🇦
France (Must be bilingual in English & French)
United Kingdom
Canada
Caribbean Islands (Starting with Jamaica, Haiti, and Barbados)
Africa (Starting with Nigeria and Ghana, then expanding to all 54 countries)
Then the Rest of the World!
Requirements
Research and identify Black-owned businesses in assigned regions.
Verify business legitimacy and collect accurate details (name, industry, location, website, social media, etc.).
Analyze economic and social trends impacting Black business visibility and sustainability.
Collaborate with The Nile’s team to develop business outreach strategies.
Stay informed on racial wealth disparities, economic challenges, and opportunities affecting Black entrepreneurs globally.
Engage with local communities, organizations, and business networks to expand The Nile’s directory.
What We’re Looking For:
✔️ Fluency in English + another language (Portuguese for Brazil, French for France, other languages are a plus)
✔️ Background in global economic studies, international development, or racial equity research
✔️ Strong analytical and research skills with attention to detai
l✔️ Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
✔️ Passion for supporting Black businesses and economic empowerment
✔️ Familiarity with social media, business directories, and networking platforms
