DIRECTORY POLICY

At The Nile, we aim to maintain high standards for both vendors and users of our platform. To ensure fairness, transparency, and quality, the following directory policies are in place:

 Eligibility for Directory Listing

Brand Qualification: To be listed in the Black Nile's directory, a brand must meet our eligibility criteria, including but not limited to: legal business registration, professional product/service photos, descriptions, and compliance with all relevant local and international regulations.

Content Guidelines: All brands listed must provide accurate, truthful, and non-deceptive content. We reserve the right to remove any brand or listing that violates these standards.

Category Accuracy: Applicants are responsible for selecting the correct brand type and category. We provide clear descriptions during the application process to guide your selection. Please check our directory to see if we carry your product brand or service brand's category first before applying.  If you are still unsure which category your brand falls under, we encourage you to contact our team prior to submitting your application. Listing in the wrong category does not qualify for a refund.

 Brand Evaluation Process

Evaluation Wait Time: We have a 30-day waiting period for brand approval. After applying, brands undergo a comprehensive evaluation and verification process before being officially approved as sellers. You should hear back from us with a decision within this time frame. We aim to process all evaluations within the standard wait time.

Evaluation Criteria: Our team conducts thorough evaluations based on factors such as brand originality, quality, consistent social media presence, market relevance, product quality, etc. You can lear more about our criteria here.

Feedback: If a brand does not meet the criteria for induction, vendors will receive feedback and be given the opportunity to make adjustments before reapplying.Brands can reapply as many times as they wish, but no more than once during the same evaluation cycle.

Directory Listing and Visibility

Official Induction: Once the brand passes the evaluation process, it will be officially listed in the directory and made visible to users. All relevant details will be accessible to potential customers.

Brand Profile Customization: The vendor's brand profile will be customized based on the information provided to us in their application, so please answer each of our questions to the best of your ability. 

Vendor Portal: While your brand is pending activation, you still have access to the features included in your plan, which can be found in your vendor portal. To access your vendor portal, log in to your account at www.blacknile.co using a desktop or mobile browser. On mobile browser, tap the menu icon (☰) in the top-right corner. On desktop, you’ll find your profile picture and name in the same top-right area—hover over it and select "Vendor Portal" from the dropdown.This will take you to your dashboard, where you can view your plan details and easily navigate all the features included in your membership.

Refund Policy

Non-Refundable Listings: All subscription fees are non-refundable after 7 days from the date of processing. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Incorrect category selections (e.g., service or brick-and-mortar brands submitted under product-based listings)

  • Duplicate submissions made by the applicant

  • Failure to follow application instructions or guidelines

Subscription Charges: All subscription fees are non-refundable after 7 calendar days from the initial charge or renewal date. This applies to both monthly and annual plans. Refund requests made after 7 days will not be considered, regardless of platform usage, submission status, or account activity.

 

Extended Waittime: If the brand evaluation process extends more than 30 days past the application date, vendors are eligible for a full refund of their first month's subscription, excluding the directory setup fee.This ensures that vendors are compensated for any delays in the evaluation process.This typically only occurs when there is a high volume of applications. We will notify you if this impacts your wait time during the evaluation process.

 

Vendor Responsibilities

Accurate Information: Vendors are responsible for ensuring all information submitted for listing is accurate, up-to-date, and in compliance with Black Nile’s content policies.

Regular Updates: Vendors are encouraged to reach out to us and update their profiles to reflect any changes in their brand, products, or services, including prices and website page links. Outdated or inaccurate information may result in the removal of the brand from the directory.

Service Availability During Wait Time

Access to Features: While awaiting directory induction, vendors still have full access to all other features associated with their plan. These features include, but are not limited to, your monthly business grant list, exclusive group access, marketing tools, social media content planner, our founder’s business prayer, exclusive blog content, and more.

Interim Benefits: During the wait time, vendors are encouraged to leverage available features to enhance their brand visibility and engagement within the Black Nile platform.

Brand Maintenance and Removal

Inactive Brands: If a brand remains inactive (i.e., discontinued or defective shopping link) for more than 6 consecutive months, it may be flagged for removal from the directory. Vendors will receive prior notice and an opportunity to reactivate or update their brand listing.

Policy Violations: If a brand is found to be in violation of any of Black Nile’s policies, including but not limited to fraudulent activity, misrepresentation, or harmful content, it may be removed from the directory without a refund. Vendors will be notified of the removal and provided an explanation for the action taken.

Cancellations

Cancellation: At the Nile, we give vendors the flexibility to manage their subscriptions on their own terms. If you choose to cancel your subscription, simply log in to your account at www.blacknile.co using any desktop or mobile browser. On mobile browser, tap the menu icon (☰) in the top-right corner. On desktop, hover over your profile picture and name in the top-right corner and select "Subscriptions" from the dropdown menu. From there, you can easily view, manage, or cancel your membership at any time.

Service Disputes: In cases where vendors believe they have not received the services outlined in their plan, they may submit a service dispute request. All claims will be reviewed, and, if valid, an appropriate resolution, including refunds or service adjustments, will be provided.

Disputes & Chargebacks: Initiating a chargeback without first contacting our support team to resolve the issue may result in immediate removal from the platform and disqualification from future participation.

Communication with Vendors

Regular Updates: Black Nile is committed to providing regular updates on the status of the brand evaluation, directory listing, and any other relevant processes.

Support Access: Vendors will have access to customer support throughout their time on Black Nile. We encourage vendors to reach out if they have any questions or concerns about their directory listing, plan features, or any other aspect of their account.

Prohibited Items Policy​

To maintain a safe and appropriate environment for our Christian and young audience, the following items are prohibited from being sold on our platform:

  • Pornographic material

  • Occult or witchcraft-related items

  • Idols or idol-related products

  • Blasphemous or offensive content

  • Violent or graphic media

  • Illegal substances (e.g., drugs, alcohol abuse)

  • Profanity or offensive language

  • Immoral or inappropriate books and media

  • Immodest or suggestive clothing

  • Gambling-related products

  • Items promoting harmful behaviors or addictions

  • Sexual exploitation materials

  • Hate-filled or divisive materials

  • Anything that encourages unethical behavior

  • Tarot Cards and Divination Items

  • Astrology-related Products

  • Crystals for Spiritual or Metaphysical Use

  • Law of Attraction Books

  • Chakra-related Products

Our platform does not feature products or services that promote beliefs or practices contrary to the message of the gospel.
