  • Chris Collins | Black Nile

< Back Chris Collins by Chris Collins Chris Collins fragrances are designed to capture feelings of attraction, daring, and freedom, whether that means a sweet gourmand or a hypnotic wood. Besides creating a sensual mood, the scents also tell the stories of New York and Paris and their cultural exchange, from the Harlem Renaissance through today. "I create fragrance the way a composer writes music. The name of the fragrance is like the title of a song. The notes are the lyrics. The way they mix together is the music and melody. I'm inspired by a story, a memory, a place or, in some cases, a specific fragrance note. I'm very much inspired by music, art and love. The end result are only those fragrances that I fall madly in love with, that elicit a strong emotional response." - Chris Collins chris.collins@gmail.com . Shop Brand

  • Vision | Black Nile

VISION Serve our community & strengthen local economies Foster Job Creation Circulate wealth within our own communities Close the Racial Wealth Gap Beyond the Nile Black buying power in the U.S. is approximately $3 trillion dollars, but less than 1/8th of it is returned in investment within our own communities. According to Brookings.edu, the average white f amily's net worth ($171,000) is nearly ten times greater than that of the average black family ($17,150) in the U.S. Unfortunately, this disproportion is not just an American issue, but a global systemic phenomenon that oppresses and exploits the African diaspora from the opportunity to fairly participate in our global economy. In addition, there is a vast disparity in diversity, inclusion, and equality within corporations and executive spaces. The black dollar is powerful and it is time we redirect our wealth within our own communities and create our own spaces where we are accepted and celebrated, not hated or tolerated. FIRM FOUNDATION Pursuing the promise of Jeremiah 22:3 “Thus says the Lord: Do justice and righteousness, and deliver from the hand of the oppressor him who has been robbed. And do no wrong or violence to the resident alien, the fatherless, and the widow, nor shed innocent blood in this place," Black Nile strives to rebuild the African Diaspora on the true foundation of Christ. Jesus consistently reached out to those who were socially excluded or oppressed, regardless of their race, nationality, gender, or social status. He broke social and religious taboos to show love and mercy to people who were often marginalized, including women, the sick, the poor, tax collectors, and even Gentiles. His ministry was a call to dismantle the systems that dehumanize and to build a community rooted in love, mercy, equity, and the dignity of every human being. To dismiss or perpetuate racial injustice and systemic intergenerational poverty is to deny the transformative values that Jesus embodied. His message was never solely about individual salvation, but about a communal responsibility to spread and embody the gospel to ALL people—especially those who suffers the most. CHALLENGING THE ALGORITHM It is no secret that social media giants contribute to the reinforcement of racial bias. Their algorithms, while claiming neutrality, have proven to perpetuate existing inequalities. These systems are deeply entangled in the structures of misinformation, and implicit biases that prioritize the mainstream and marginalize the minority and communities of color, especially black people. The global digital landscape is far from equitable, and the institutions of oppression that persist in our societies still shape our plight today. This imbalance is glaringly evident in the way algorithms often overlook or suppress black-owned businesses, creators, and voices. Despite the immense creativity and value within these communities, systemic barriers—both online and offline—remain a significant hindrance. This is why we have taken it upon ourselves to carve out a dedicated space where quality marginalized black-owned businesses, creators, and innovators are not just seen but highlighted and rewarded. Our goal is to provide visibility, support, and empowerment to these communities, challenging the dominant lies and breaking down the walls that have long suppressed their contributions. Together, we can shift the focus towards equity, uplifting truth and the voices often unheard, and create a more just digital ecosystem for all.
