- Art by Wak | Black Nile
< Back Art by Wak Shop About Artist Kevin A. Williams is an artist on a mission, but his is no solo trip: He wants to take you on the journey, too. His destination is a place where more African-Americans will appreciate, own and even create fine art that honors their rich heritage and hope filled destiny. So far, tens of thousands of people have willingly followed Williams to that vista – including talk-show host Oprah Winfrey, and actor comedian Bernie Mac. From celebrity homes to small businesses, corporate offices and women’s spas, Williams’ original and lithograph artwork hangs from coast to coast. In fact, his collection of 50 lithograph prints – created under the “WAK Artistry” signature – is the most widely circulated urban fine arts series in the nation. Diverse in their themes, the art is painted by Williams in mixed mediums, and then produced as lithographs in various limited – and broad – edition quantities. Williams also creates a number of commissioned works annually. As the best-selling artist in the African-American print market, Williams is a popular personality at national art shows, conferences of African-American groups and major international events, including the Essence Music Festival. His art has been featured on television’s “Law & Order” (NBC) and “Soul Food” (Showtime). An artist who has received no formal training Williams’ success has been in what some may call non-traditional methods of reaching art consumers. He’s taken a ‘pass’ on formal galleries or exhibits – but it’s a path with which he is comfortable.

- Ate of Nate Austin | Black Nile
< Back Ate of Nate Austin Shop About Artist Nate Austin's journey as an artist began at a very young age. His mother fondly recalls noticing his advanced artistic abilities at the age of six. His passion for art sparked early on, as he would doodle on church fans and scrap paper to pass the time during Sunday services. This early connection to creativity set the foundation for his artistic path. Nate later attended the Cleveland School of the Arts in high school, followed by the University of Toledo. While his collegiate years saw art and self-expression take a backseat for a time, he eventually found his way back to his calling years after graduation, a gift he could no longer ignore. Within the space of a blank canvas, Nate’s primary goal is to give voice to the misrepresented, marginalized, and often misunderstood, while highlighting the beauty that already exists. He believes that the power of art lies in its ability to transport the viewer from a logical and familiar world into a space that is uncomfortable and unfamiliar. His work resonates with some, confirming their own experiences, while for others it informs and provokes thought. Much of his art is dedicated to sharing the realities of the African American experience, exploring the love, joy, sorrow, and pain that come with being part of a melanated community. Nate frequently employs a variety of mediums in his art, including oils, acrylics, acrylic paint pens, charcoal, and collage. For him, art is about finding and refining one’s voice, and learning to project it in unique and bold ways. He is currently in a state of exploration, discovering his voice and developing his style. His work ranges in style, with some pieces featuring expressive, abstract movement, while others take on a more realistic approach. Throughout this journey, he continually experiments with colors, textures, and subject matter. More recently, Nate has started incorporating literary elements within his artwork, finding that text adds depth and significance to the themes he explores. While an artist’s style evolves over time, Nate’s work consistently centers around the exploration of human emotion. He is constantly challenging himself, learning, and growing with each new experience. Nate believes that life itself is a series of canvases to be marked, and he strives to find the art in every situation.

< Back Brown Sugar Babe Maekaeda Gibbons The brand, which began as a hobby for making fragrances, has morphed into body scrubs and oils that have literally had the internet in shambles — in the best way possible. We have Maekaeda Gibbons to thank for that. She began concocting body care recipes out of her Atlanta home, and although Gibbons did not know it at the time, her fascination for creating new (and inspired) scents and discovering her connection to fragrance would propel her to lay the foundation for an entire body care brand. help@brownsugarbabe.net Shop Brand
- Rebourne NYC | Black Nile
< Back Rebourne NYC by Erin C. After a burn accident in 2016, the founder realized she would have to find a new way to live her life because her old life was gone. She found peace in creativity. From there she was able to rehab herself mentally in order to start her life over. She knew her mind would need to be in a certain space in order to heal and grow from the experience and decided her fragrances would be inspired by and reflect that. Each fragrance was created with a feeling or emotion in mind that she wanted to be transferred through the product. Once she mastered that, it became her rebirth. She was now ReBourne, fearless and feeling the world was her oyster. Her life had a new purpose totally different than she'd ever imagined. The company name is inspired by her great grandmother Bourne as a homage to her grandmother whom raised her and her determination to share her story about how she started over again. The mission to help any person in the need of a mental transformation, whether it be from an accident or a bad day at work is what ReBourne stands by. With our collection you have the option to transform your space at any time. ReBourneNYC@yahoo.com Shop Brand
